What is a Biography?

biography is a type of writing that tells the real history of the life of a man or woman, one who made a significant contribution to the world. If that person is the author as well as the subject of the writing, it is known as an autobiography.

Biographies can vary in structure and length, but all should include the following elements:

  • The full name of the subject.
  • Birth and death dates of the subject, if known.
  • The subject's place of origin.
  • Any activities or actions that made the subject famous.
  • The reason(s) for the subject's continued significance.
