How to: Create a table of contents

Once you have completed your guide, we can create a table of contents. Here are the steps.

  1. First make sure each guide page has a readable Page URL (Click pencil editing icon in box above side navigation).
  2. Go to live version of your page in a new tab/window
    • Click the "eye" icon to get a preview of your guide.
    • Click the guide name in the breadcrumbs menu (above the guide title).
  3. From your live guide, highlight and copy the entire left column menu.
  4. Go back to the edit screen and create a box for your table of contents
    • Create a Rich Text/HTML content item.
  5. In the editing toolbar, click on the "Paste from Word" icon (W on clipboard)
  6. Paste the menus into this window.
  7. Once you click OK, the list of links will appear ready for editing.
  8. Delete second level list items as needed.
  9. Provide descriptions of the pages and save.
