Supporting nursing, midwifery and allied health professional students to raise concerns...Milligan, F., Wareing, M., Preston-Shoot, M., Pappas, Y., Randhawa, G., & Bhandol, J. (2017). “Supporting nursing, midwifery and allied health professional students to raise concerns with the quality of care: A review of the research literature.” Nurse Education Today, 57, 29–39.
This literature review was conducted over a variety of sources and databases. Over twenty-three articles were examined to determine the process and impact of raising quality control concerns. The review concluded that raising such concerns results in an emotional burden for the student as well as potential sanctions from the staff. Students, as whistleblowers, seemed to be overlooked by the current laws protecting whistleblowers.
