Katharine MacDonald, a.k.a. “The American Beauty,” was already an experienced film actress who had made eight features by the time she came to Betzwood in 1919. Born in Pittsburgh on 14 December 1881, she was in her late 30’s when she appeared in the Betzwood films and became Louis Bennison’s most popular co-star. She appeared in more than two dozen films in her career, with most of them made during the 1920s. She died on 4 June 1956, in Santa Barbara, California.
